What Is Financial Peace University?

“We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!” (from

Why Does our Church Offer a Class on Money & Finances?

Some might ask, “Why is your church offering a class on money and finances? What does this have to do with God or religion?” The simple answer to that question is that our church does not believe in a “sacred/secular split.” That is, we don’t separate our Sunday lives (what we often term “spiritual lives”) from our Monday thru Saturday lives (what most people regard as their “regular lives”). Unfortunately, many Christians have come to see their normal, “regular lives” as having little to do with their “spiritual lives.” But this is a mistake. The regular, day-in-day-out “stuff” of life–things like raising kids, exercising, painting, making and spending money–is directly impacted by what we believe. Thus, all of life is spiritual. All of life is an act of worship. What we choose to watch on TV is either good or bad, an act of worship or disobedience.

The same can be said about our finances. For example, do you see yourself as an owner of money or a manger of God’s money (Deut 10:14)? Do you spend wisely according to biblical principles, or are your spending habits out of control (Prov 21:20)? God wants every believer to let their Christian Faith, and the principles inherent to it, impact every area of their life (1 Cor 10:31). All of life is spiritual. We believe that Financial Peace University (FPU) is one way our church can equip and grow the saints to their God-intended maturity (Eph 4:11-16).
